Adopt a Family!

PARENTS, Inc. is committed to helping families not only through our parenting education and support services, but by providing families with resources and donations from the community year-round! Oftentimes these services are available to families only during the holidays, but we aim to help throughout the year! Please see our Year-Round and Holiday programs below for more information on ways that YOU and your families, businesses, and agencies can help!

Hands Holding Heart

Adopt a Family YEAR-ROUND!

Often, families need help throughout the year with feeding, clothing, and providing small items to their children, such as birthday gifts, Easter baskets, Halloween costumes, as well as safe, fun, family experiences!

YOU can help by donating new or gently used children’s clothing, toys, books and games! We will collect the items and distribute them to the families in our programs, based on their needs.

You might also consider donating gift certificates to safe, family activities, such as UH games, miniature golf, the movies, waterpark, iTrampoline, Hawaii Raceway, etc., or creating baskets for a picnic in the park or a day at the beach, and including normal items needed such as sunscreen, snacks, arm floaties, or other blow-up beach or park toys.

All of these items will promote safe, positive, fun activities that families can do together, year-round, in our beautiful islands!

Adopt a Family Holiday Program!

Adopt-A-Family

Interested in spreading holiday cheer and making sure that one of our local families has an AMAZING Christmas and New Year? Please consider adopting a family this holiday season!

The goal of this program is to help families provide Christmas gifts or experiences for their children, and to let families know that both PARENTS, Inc., and members of the community, care for them and that they are not alone.

Gifts requested by the parents and their children typically reflect needs and smaller wants, rather than large, expensive items such as game systems, hover boards, or other expensive toys. Families often request items such as clothing, shoes, or other essential items, as well as things like Christmas trees or holiday meals.

Experiences also make great gifts! These include attending an event together, such as a UH game, or tickets to an activity, such as miniature golf. At each type of event, families are able to bond with one another by talking, laughing, and playing. In this way, you are promoting healthy, positive interactions between family members, and taking the focus away from the materialism that often surrounds holidays such as Christmas.

How the Program Works

If you would like to adopt a family, we typically start talking with families in November to see who could use some help during the holiday season. Once we identify the families and their needs, we will send out paragraphs about each family and their children in early December to any donors who have expressed interest in being part of the program. Then, donors can choose the family or families that they would like to bless with their support.

Gifts can be donated wrapped or unwrapped, and designated to the family or families you have chosen to work with!

You will receive a receipt for your donation, and if the family agrees, a photo of the family with the gifts donated!
